Porsche 997 GT3 Cup
The Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car is the benchmark by which all other GT3 cars are judged.
Launched in 2005 into the Porsche Michelin Supercup; a prominent support race to F1 and also the fastest one make series in the world the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (997) the 997 was an immediate success.
Following the Supercup, cars were then delivered to the national Porsche Carrera Cup Championships in Asia, Australia, Germany, France, Great Britain, Scandinavia and Japan as well as in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Michelin in the USA from 2006.
In addition to the Supercup and Carrera Cup Championships the Porsche 997 GT3 is also a prominent feature in the FIA GT3 Championship in addition to other high profile national & international championships such as Belcar, Dutch Supercar, GT Open, French, Spanish, German, Italian and British GT Championships.
The 911 GT3 Cup Car (997) was developed based on the current 911 generation road car. The development was focused mainly on aerodynamics, as the front area of the car clearly shows.
Oakley Design has pushed the development of the 997 further still, optimising for performance and style.
Many Oakley Design components are fitted to the Oakley Racing 997 GT3 Cup Car (where championship regulations allow) such as: 4-way suspension, brake system, exhaust system, wheels and aerodynamics.
